Bad Religion ‎– How Could Hell Be Any Worse?

Genre:
Rock
Style:
Hardcore, Punk
Year:
1982
Notes:
Album sales: 12,000
First release date: 1982

The first studio album from Bad Religion.

How Could Hell Be Any Worse? was the first full-length for the label Epitaph. Originally only 6,000 copies were pressed, but the record sold much better than expected - almost 10,000 copies within a year - and eventually reached 12,000 copies. Original drummer Jay Ziskrout quit the band during the recording. He plays on about half the songs while Pete Finestone plays on the other half.

Epitaph later reissued the album on cassette and vinyl (with a different catalog #) in the late '80s after Bad Religion had become more active. It was a also included on the 1991 Bad Religion compilation "80-85", along with the band's first EP, "Bad Religion", the "Back To The Known" EP, and some compilation tracks.

The 2004 CD release of "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?" actually contains the remastered tracklist of "80-85" but has all the artwork from "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?" This was done, in part, as a response to fan requests for the lyrics to "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?" (there were no lyrics included in the "80-85" CD booklet).
